Chief Warrant Officer Miles Barham was born in Delhi, Ontario and joined the Canadian Forces as a Radio Technician in November 1977 in London, Ontario. On completion of recruit training in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia and trades training at CFB Kingston, Ontario, he was initially transferred to CFB Comox, British Columbia. In 1982, he was transferred to CFS Sioux Lookout, Ontario and promoted to Corporal on completion of Technical Qualification Level Five training. He was promoted to Master Corporal in 1985.

Posted to CFB Baden Sollingen, West Germany, in July 1987, CWO Barham was promoted to Sergeant upon arrival and filled the positions of NCO i/c Transmitter Site and the NCO i/c Projects at the Communication Squadron. In July 1992, following his promotion to Warrant Officer, he was posted to Fighter Group Headquarters in North Bay, Ontario where he filled the Staff Officer Communications role in direct support of the Commander of the Canadian NORAD Region. In 1995, Master Warrant Officer Barham was promoted and transferred to CFB Kingston, the home station of the Communications and Electronics Branch as a newly designated Aerospace Telecommunications and Information Systems Technician. While there, he held positions of Officer in Charge of Technical Training, Squadron Sergeant Major Training Support Squadron, and Squadron Sergeant Major of the Non Commissioned Members Training Squadron. Promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer in June 1999, he was transferred to Trenton, Ontario as the Squadron Chief Warrant Officer in the 8 Wing Telecommunications and Information Systems Squadron. After two years in the squadron, in July 2001 he assumed the position of the 8 Wing Logistics Branch Chief Warrant Officer.

While settling into this new position and after the attacks of 11 September 2001, CWO Barham was appointed as the Tactical Airlift Detachment Chief Warrant Officer and deployed on ROTO Zero of OPERATION APOLLO in the Arabian Gulf from January through July 2002. On return from his deployment, Chief Warrant Officer Barham was appointed as the Wing Chief Warrant Officer at 14 Wing Greenwood, Nova Scotia from January 2003 to July 2006. He was then selected for and completed French language training in Ottawa from August 2006 to June 2007.

On 28 June 2007, Chief Warrant Officer was appointed to his present position as the Canadian Operational Support Command Chief Warrant Officer.

Chief Warrant Officer Barham and his wife Susan (Willis) have one daughter and one son, a daughter-in-law and a new granddaughter. Chief Warrant Officer Barham enjoys numerous recreational interests, which include golf, hockey and fishing.
